I never travel far without a little Big Star.

Yes, that is a cat butt behind my head in the sidebar photo. Meet Maggie’s behind. Pleased, I’m sure…

The four most important answers: The Replacements, the Hoodoo Gurus, Scarce, & Dig. I worship at the House of Westerberg.

So, I ran a big site elsewhere for almost a decade before moving the only thing that ever got updated (the blog, then known as The Graffiti Wall) over to Blogger permanently in January 2006, with a mirror on LiveJournal, then – having decided to defect from the scourge that was Blogger Beta – moving it again in December 2006 to WordPress (yay), along with helping about 90% of the Nashville & Tennessee blogger contingent do the same thing because Blogger Beta was uggggggh.

Born in Memphis on the Ides of March, raised in upper Northwest Tennessee, claim Paris and Camden as home. College days spent in Nashville and Murfreesboro, with extended stays in Knoxville and Maryville. Back in Memphis since 1988, used to love it, now I hate it. Will be relocating back in or around Knoxville at some point eventually and likely for good.

I am an only child, but I have a younger sister. We grew up together but not in the same house. We are not related by blood but might as well be. And the rest is so complicated you are fortunate to be spared the rest of the details. But yes, I have a sister, and thanks to the covenant of marriage I have a brother-in-law, too. They moved to Nebraska a few years ago and I wasn’t one bit happy about it.

I’m a lifelong music junkie, the Hoodoo Gurus, The Replacements, and Dig being in the top four among thousands of others. I worship at the House of Westerberg, and I ran an American sister site for Australian band The Monarchs, Brad Shepherd of the Hoodoo Gurus’ later band, until they disbanded. Now I manage the official MySpace profiles for The Monarchs, and the Fun Things and Super K (two pre-Gurus Shepherd projects), and am working on getting new standalone official websites for The Monarchs and Fun Things up and running.

I’ve also been doing a lot of footwork lately for another huge favorite, the recently reunited band Scarce (from Boston), and The Ride Ons (Australia). If you don’t know who these bands are, you should.

My two seconds of fame, I reckon, was being acknowledged in Michael Azerrad’s fabulous book on the indie music scene of the ’80s and ’90s, This Band Could Be Your Life (I contributed some very minor Replacements swag to the project). So there’s my little piece of rock solid indie cred, and that and 50 cents might buy me a cup of coffee (or four bucks at Starbucks).

I was invited to participate in the documentary (that still has yet to be released) about Replacements fans, but thanks to my awful lazy habits of procrastination and the fact I don’t have a working camcorder of my own right now, I never got around to making a tape. Big bummer, but I’m still looking forward to seeing the finished project if it’s ever released. I’ve seen an early trailer and it was awesome.

I used to run a BBS in Memphis too and have been online, like, FOREVER (mid-’80s, that’s how forever). I work in web research and administration and do web stuff and software and infosys stuff in music and otherwise, I do a little online marketing typey stuff, and just generally have too much stuff going on at once and entirely too much on my plate.

Other than that, nowadays I pretty much mostly just read other people’s blogs, play online games too much, & forget to answer e-mail.

But you can still e-mail me anyway, I might not forget…
